Week one, what a story needs. The difference between a subject and a story, and why a great single image is often a bad story frame. We read three master photo essays out loud, frame by frame. Week two, the five frame spine. The establishing frame, the detail, the portrait, the moment, the closer. Not a formula, a checklist for what is missing from yours. Week three, sequencing. Order is meaning. What two frames say side by side that neither says alone. Week four, the final edit. Every story re-sequenced live with the group, and the discovery of what each one is actually about, which is never quite what its photographer thought.
You leave with: a finished photo story of five to eight frames, and a structure you will reuse for the rest of your working life.
