Beginner Street Photography

$150.00

Four weeks. One live hour a week. Eight people.

For anyone who can work a camera but freezes the second it is time to point it at a stranger. This is the course about photographing real life in public.

Week one, the camera stops being the problem. One setup you can leave the house with, focusing fast enough to catch something, and why sharpness is the least important thing you are worrying about. Week two, seeing. Light before subject. Finding a stage and waiting instead of chasing. What to leave out of the frame. Week three, people, and the fear. Getting close without being a creep. What to say when someone objects. Your rights and your responsibilities, in plain language. This is the week that changes things. Week four, your first real edit. Cutting a month of shooting down to eight frames that hold together.

One assignment a week, and your work goes up on screen every session.

You leave with: a working street method, four weeks of real shooting behind you, and your first edited set.

Taught by Perry Hall. I co-founded Daylight School in Rome and have taught street photography workshops in Rome, Rio de Janeiro, Brussels and Athens.

Cohort dates are emailed the moment you book.
